On Aug. 23, 2019, the North Idaho College Workforce Training Center in Post Falls honored Seth Helbling, a certified nursing assistant at Life Care Center of Coeur d’Alene, as an outstanding mentor and teacher.
Students from the school’s summer program completed clinical hours at the skilled nursing and rehab center and wanted to recognize Helbling for his compassion toward the residents, patience with the students and overall exceptional care.
“I enjoy the nursing field because I get to not only help patients learn about their own health care but I oftentimes learn how to teach different types of people – not everyone learns the same way,” said Helbling. “Teaching students is my favorite because I often get to involve both patients and students in the learning process so that I can help them both become comfortable giving or receiving care.”
Helbling is currently enrolled in nursing school, and Life Care Center of Coeur d’Alene is looking forward to his continued success and professional growth.
“Nursing is far more than practicing a set of skills,” he added. “It’s learning how to interact with people. Working at Life Care Center of Coeur d’Alene has helped me relate clinical practice with social skills among residents, their families, co-workers and students."
