Life Care Centers of America's Whatever it Takes Champions program honors associates who go beyond their job descriptions in caring for our patients, residents, and their families. Here are four of our recent winners and their inspiring stories. These associates are certainly Champions of Care!
A family member of a Bruceton Rock patient nominated Ashley for the kindness and compassion she showed her mother. The family member stated that her mother was very nervous about coming to the facility for short-term therapy, but Ashley went above and beyond to make her stay a great experience.
All the little things Ashley did added up to make her mother’s stay enjoyable, like taking her time to wash her hair or making sure her coffee was hot in the mornings. Ashley also took the time to help the patient color and curl her hair.
Thank you, Ashley, for making a difference in the lives of our patients, residents, and their family members!
Carrie often ventures beyond her job duties to ensure her patients and resident are happy and safe. Recently, a short-term therapy patient became distraught and demanded to be discharged immediately. Carrie calmed the patient and asked them to explain their concerns. It turned out that the patient had some bills coming due and was afraid to miss the payments. Carrie didn’t want the patient to worry about anything other than getting better, so she obtained some stamps and helped the patient mail out their bill payments.
Thank you, Carrie, for showing our New Market patients the many sides of great care.
For over 21 years, Randy, who is also a volunteer firefighter and full-time pastor, has led a Bible study with our residents every Wednesday and Sunday. Many of the Ridgeview staff have personally asked Randy to talk or pray with residents, and he is always willing to go. Randy has also officiated several funerals and weddings of former residents, who had no one else to do the job. Randy has proven himself to be a true servant, shepherd, and friend to our patients and residents.
One of the residents at Hallmark Manor included this note in their Whatever It Takes nomination of Erika:
“I want to say how much I appreciate Erika. She is so considerate of our feelings and always tries to fix any problem we may have. She has made such a difference in the kitchen. We love her and appreciate her.”
