Life Care Centers of America's Whatever it Takes Champions program honors associates who go beyond their job descriptions in caring for our patients, residents, and their families. Here are four of our recent winners and their inspiring stories. These associates are certainly Champions of Care!
Skylar’s nomination comes directly from the family member of one of our residents. Take a look at what this family member had to say about Skylar’s skill, compassion, and devotion:
“Skylar has worked with my mom, who had a major stroke. Skylar has not only made substantial gains with my mom but has also lifted my mom’s spirits. Skylar has also let me take my mom for rides just so my mom can look at things besides walls. Not only has Skylar helped my mom, but she has given me more quality time with my mom, which means the world to me! Skylar is always in a wonderful mood and makes our day every time we see her.”
Grant overheard a resident express that they preferred to take their medication with a Coke. So, he stopped what he was doing and went directly to the vending machine, purchased a Coke, and brought it to the resident. Grant simply could have let the nurse deal with the issue, but he didn’t hesitate to do Whatever It Takes to make the resident’s and nurse’s day a bit easier!
Penny creates joy, cheer, and excitement for her residents and colleagues. In addition to organizing fun, engaging activities for residents, Penny brings in special items and craft supplies that honor specific holidays or observances almost every day! According to her colleagues, residents actually smile and cheer when Penny arrives at the facility each morning!
Nicole proves herself to be not just a great CNA but also a dependable date coordinator! This nomination comes from a resident who was running late for a date with his wife:
“I needed to be in the dining room to meet my wife. It usually takes 30 minutes. Nicole got me dressed, and she had two CNAs and the Hoyer lift outside my door! They came in, set everything up, and I was in my wheelchair. Nicole had one of the CNAs push me to the dining room. I was amazed how organized Nicole was and how much the other CNAs respected her. It’s a shame you don’t have senior CNAs, because she would make a great leader!”
